Reporting to: Infrastructure & Infosec Manager
Department: IT & Change
To provide 3rd level support to key infrastructure in AA Ireland's technology stack. As part of this the suitable candidate will provide day-to-day live operational systems support and administration of operational services to the business, ensuring any incidents are promptly resolved.
Provide architectural guidance on new or existing IT systems in a continuous improvement model.
Co-ordinate and manage changes to processes or technology to allow the business to be as innovative, efficient and competitive as possible
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
*Troubleshoot all issues and fulfil requests within SLA - Good Incident and Request Ticket management (20% of role)
*Monitoring and ensuring all key applications are operational and performant (20% of role)
*Manage network servers and technology tools (20% of role)
*Ensuring Information security is maintained through User Access Control, Information Security awareness, Best Practise (20% of role)
*Manage upgrades to systems with new releases and models (10% of role)
*Research new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency. (10% of role)
*Typically, working in a highly attentive environment that supports and reacts to changing Business requirements. Incidents need to be resolved as quickly as possible
*Negotiation is a key skill which will be required to get a result which will satisfy everyone involved.
*The successful candidate will participate in on call Rota (every 6 weeks approx)
*Experience of working IT Operations, demonstrating knowledge of relevant principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of stable operations.
*Leading and coordinating the resolution of complex issues where responsibility is split across multiple service providers
*Excellent organisational and presentation skills.
*A strong background knowledge of AA processes and products, insurance or computer science a distinct advantage.
Your Skills & Knowledge:
*10 years plus working as a Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator or related
*Extensive experience of Microsoft Operating Systems and Technologies such as, integration with LDAP, Group Policy, Scripting
*Extensive experience of IIS administration - App Pools/Certificates/Logging
*Extensive knowledge in SQL/DB admin skills and technologies
*Strong VMware ESX / vSphere / vMotion / Site Recovery Manager
*Good understanding of network technologies
*Use administering and support of Linux servers, preferably Red Hat
*Strong Knowledge of task scheduling and Scripting support - Bash/Perl etc.
*Experience with OS backup, monitoring, analysing error logs and dealing with complex issues
Application Management and Administration -
*Strong Knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus application systems
*TIBCO BusinessWorks, EMS, StreamBase and SpotFire experience an advantage
*DevOps experience an advantage
Information Security Awareness -
*Demonstrated Experience of Information Security application of Principles and Procedures, Internal and External Penetration and Vulnerability Testing and remediation.
*Strong Knowledge of User Access Management
*Demonstrated Experience of IT Risk Management
*Awareness of Firewall technologies and ACLs
*Experience of working in ISO27001 environment and advantage
*History of taking training to improve.
*High level of Competence in Computer Science or Strong Microsoft background
*Strong ITIL framework knowledge important
Additional Skills -
*Skill in conducting tests to newly installed/upgraded software
*Skill in isolating and resolving complex problems and utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools
*Ability to estimate, plan, manage, and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan
*Ability to analyse information and formulate conclusions and recommendations
*Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
*Familiarity with Major Incident Processes and incident management and escalation
*Participates in On Call rota and the Duty Officer Role
Qualifications & Education:
*Strong IT Core skills with supporting qualifications
*Strong understanding of a variety of operating systems - Windows 2012, RedHat Linux, etc.
*Ability to work in a complex technical environment incorporating DR, Resiliency, HA, with a focus on best practice solutions for VMware, HP Server and Storage Technologies, MS SQL, IIS,.
*Understanding of Microsoft O365 Productivity Suite,
*Understand basic network concepts - VLANs, ACLs, routing, DHCP, VMware networking
